We have an extensive portfolio of effect pigments that are suitable for radar- transparent coatings. Especially our range of Iriodin® pigments enables non-metallic stylings with a bright aluminium look - without using aluminium pigments, which is a pre-requisite for the safe functioning of radar equipment.
Modern cars are equipped with a range of sensors, which enable advanced driver assistance and even autonomous driving. For aesthetic and safety reasons, radar sensors are placed invisibly behind a car bumper or other coated plastic parts. The radar signal thus has to pass through the bumper and its coating, twice. This is becoming problematic, as bright silver coatings have traditionally relied on aluminium pigments- which unfortunately interfere with radar signals.
Over the past few years, we've built strong expertise in evaluating and optimizing the performance of our pigments in radar suitable coatings—delivering measurable impact and innovation that sets our solutions apart. We have developed a versatile range of pigments that function like a toolbox for creating bright radar suitable formulations.
Iriodin® 9627 SW RDR Silver is the ideal pigment to add to your radar suitable coatings toolbox. It comes with optimal radar values (permittivity & tan-δ) and adds high brightness and great hiding power to your formulations.
Iriodin® 9627 SW RDR Silver is based on natural mica flakes and is manufactured with a new production process, including a fluoride-doping application (patent-pending), which delivers a unique and consistent pigment composition with great hiding power and a bright silver-grey color with a bluish tinge. Iriodin 962RDR Silver offers a smooth but strong light to dark flop and outstanding brightness. The fine and narrow PSD leads to a metal-like appearance and a distinct silver satin effect, supporting radar suitable coating formulations. The right pigment for a non-metallic aluminium look with fine elegant luster.
