Emissions Calculations

Reducing emissions, particularly CO2e, is a key driver of our approach to support climate protection. Monitoring this essential metric provides a baseline for our responsible practices.

Our commitment to transparency and accuracy pushes us to base our CO2e reduction calculations on real, tangible data rather than estimates. We have developed our own rigorous measurement and reporting methodologies because we know that understanding quantifiable impact enables us to target specific areas for improvement.

We prioritize the collection of precise CO2e calculations from across our operations and our upstream scope-3 suppliers, in line with the Together for Sustainability initiative (TfS), ensuring transparency and accountability, particularly in high-impact areas such as our pigment production. We have conducted lifecycle assessments (LCAs) for our products, ensuring a thorough understanding of our environmental impact. And rather than relying on carbon offsetting to achieve carbon neutrality, we prioritize real emission reductions, in line with science-based targets (SbT).

Climate protection is a key goal for our company and we're actively working to reduce our carbon emissions, particularly in our pigment production. Surface Solutions is dedicated to achieving ambitious GHG emissions targets across Scopes 1, 2 and 3.

Measuring our emissions precisely helps us identify key areas for improvement. By fully understanding our carbon footprint, we can target key areas for improvement and take meaningful steps to reduce emissions as we progress toward our climate goals.

Through targeted initiatives and focused efforts, we are reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and making a meaningful contribution to a lower-carbon future. We invest in solar and other renewable energy sources to power our operations more sustainably. We minimize airfreight and increase our usage of electrical vehicles. We implement new packaging initiatives designed to minimize waste and environmental impact.
