Environmental stewardship

Because it's up to all of us to halt the tide of climate change and protect the environment, we are cutting down our emissions, reducing our energy consumption and manage natural resources responsibly. We have formulated several goals, defined clear measures and plans to achieve them and report recurringly on our progress. Some of our goals:

  • Goal 1: 80% renewable 3rd party electricity until 2030
  • Goal 2: reduce green house gas emissions (scope 1 & 2) by 50% until 2030 & achieve climate neutrality until 2040
  • Goal 3: reduce energy consumption by 5% in 2025
  • Goal 4: provide PCF transparency for more products in 2025

Moving to green and renewable energy sources is the quickest and most effective way to reduce our carbon footprint. We have installed solar parks at our biggest production locations, increasingly providing us with a fossil-free source of (almost) carbon neutral energy. And we are exchanging our sourced energy for renewable purchasing contracts to further increase the amount of clean energy. Improving energy efficency in our production processes is the second biggest lever to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. Further measures like reducing production and warehouse temperatures, driving electrical vehicles, using water or road transport instead of airfreight and re-using water resources during production cycles are also important measures to accelerate our decarbonization efforts.

Achieving our carbon reduction targets needs daily attention, in all departments and at all our production and office locations. Environmental stewardship is a joint responsibility and we are confident and proud to give it the high priority in our organization that it needs and deserves.
