While overall trends in skincare products are constantly changing, the desire for healthy, glowing skin remains timeless across all ethnicities and age groups. Various approaches to achieving radiant skin, such as glass skin, dolphin skin, mirror skin, dewy skin, or cloud skin, have flooded the market in recent years, indicating that a healthy glow is increasingly sought after goal for skincare product users!

Nothing glows like healthy skin! Glow is associated with skin health and holistic beauty claims. However, there is no single, clear definition available for how a healthy glow can be defined. Even though there are numerous terms such as luminosity, radiance, and illuminating effect.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND A GLOWING SKIN

The reason our skin appears radiant is due to the reflection of light. Skin glows when its surface texture is smooth enough to reflect light. The more the light is bounced back the better the glow. The presence of pigmentation, spots, enlarged pores, or blemishes absorb light rather than reflecting it. The smoother the surface and the more uniform its color, the better light is reflected. Good cell renewal, proper blood circulation, hydration and maintenance of the skin barrier function are the foundation of healthy, glowing skin.

The healthy glow aspect refers to a natural, radiant appearance often associated with good health and well-being. It can manifest as an overall brightness in the skin, with small pores, even skin tone, and a dewy, moisturized complexion.
